Announcement – Updated Equipment!
FYI – With the help of some very generous donations and volunteers who helped track everything down, we now have an updated selection of communal boxing gloves at the gym! If you are a regular member of the gym, or at least plan to be, we still suggest finding your own pair of boxing gloves eventually. However, if you are in a pinch or want to test out different types of gloves, please feel free to explore our selection at the gym!
Please note, any gloves that are meant for sparring only will be locked in a cabinet, so if you are particularly interested in these, please talk with a trainer first to gain access. We will be happy to help in any way that we can.
As a general guide, we recommend training with 16oz boxing gloves. These are typically the most common, so they shouldn’t be hard to find in our selection or if you are looking for your own pair. Training with heavier gloves can improve conditioning, but we recommend avoiding this until you have gained expertise with the form and technique itself.
Lastly, we would like to remind everyone who are using their own gloves that they must come with an attached thumb. This may sound picky, but it could save lots of eye injuries especially!
